There really isn’t anything quite like being given the opportunity to go on an adventure with a couple and document their taking of vows and making of pledges to one another. Photographing elopements is just so incredibly special and we are so thankful for the opportunity to have worked with all the rad couples that we have. Many times people will bring us along as well as a small handful of their closest friends and family. For this adventure however, it was just the 4 of us. Emily grew up on Orcas Island, just a short ferry ride away from Lummi Island, where she and Brian chose to say “I do”. They had heard incredible things about The Willows Inn and the decadent prix fixe menu that was served during peak season by award-winning head chef Blaine Wetzel. This had to be the place where they would celebrate their new journey together. They decided to celebrate their nuptials by beginning with a celebratory dinner the night before, a quick early morning ceremony on the beach, and ending with the famous brunch back at the inn. Joining Emily and Brian for the meal was and still is a highlight of our time as photographers. The food, the experience at The Willows is literally out of this world. Like mind blown! This was also our first time to travel that far North up the Washington coast. The landscapes took our breath away. Needless to say, this whole trip was one we will never forget. We are so thankful for couples like Emily and Brian who entrust us with the great honor of recording one of life’s most pivotal mile markers and welcome us into their lives as family.
